Plastic Surgery Trauma Associates (PSTA) maintains and protects Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), applicable federal regulations, and Florida law.

Use & Disclosure Of Protected Health Information

PSTA may use and disclose PHI for purposes permitted under HIPAA, including:

To provide, coordinate, and manage healthcare services within the Level I trauma system, affiliated hospitals, consulting physicians, rehabilitation providers, and ancillary services directly involved in patient care.

To obtain reimbursement for services rendered, including communication with commercial insurers, governmental payors, Workers’ Compensation administrators, liability carriers, and other responsible entities.

To conduct administrative, compliance, quality assurance, peer review, credentialing, and educational activities, including participation in ACGME-accredited surgical training.

Trauma System & Multidisciplinary Coordination

As a reconstructive service integrated within a Level I trauma system, PHI may be shared with affiliated hospitals and multidisciplinary care teams when necessary to coordinate treatment.

All disclosures occur in compliance with institutional privacy standards and federal regulations.
